Isabel Harkins was born in Santiago, Chile and grew up in the Peruvian Andes and Amazon, where she learned ancient healing ways by the Shaman Mama that raised her. Isabel knew at a very young age that she wanted to make a difference in the world and she grew completely connected with the earth and its beings. Since she was a child, she sensed that all people were connected somehow and never doubted it–that is how energy works! We are one.
She applied her training and upbringing in shapeshifting and healing arts to start the journey of changing her perception of the world around her. During this long ago process, she learned the tools that she now shares with thousands.
She is a Registered Polarity Practitioner, an Integrative Craniosacral Practitioner, and registered three levels Qi-Gong Instructor, a graduate of the Anthony Robbins-Madanes life coaching programs, and Chopra certified Primordial Sound Meditation instructor.
She has shared the stage with Wayne Dyer, Gary Young, and other inspirational speakers. Her commitment to selfless service is her drive; she always finds the time to lend a helping hand mentoring people to access their own tools. Her life continues to be about selfless service.
For thousands of years, people have used Primordial Sound Meditation to move beyond the mind’s stress-inducing thoughts and emotional upsets into the peace and clarity of present moment awareness. The variety of meditation techniques, traditions, and technologies is nearly infinite, but the essence of meditation is singular: the cultivation of mindful awareness and expanded consciousness.
These are the ultimate precious gifts of Primordial Sound Meditation, yet people are initially drawn to meditation for many different reasons. Some begin meditating because of a doctor’s recommendation, seeking the health benefits of lowered blood pressure, stress reduction, and restful sleep. Others come to meditation seeking relief from the fearful, angry, or painful thoughts that constantly flood their mind. Still, others come to meditation to find greater self-understanding, to increase their intuitive powers, or to improve their ability to concentrate.
It is accurate to say that the purpose of Primordial Sound Meditation depends on the meditator – but it is also true that anyone who meditates regularly receives profound benefits on all of these levels – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Here are just a few of the benefits:
• Relief from stress and anxiety (meditation mitigates the effects of the “fight-or-flight” response, decreasing the production of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline)
• Decreased blood pressure and hypertension
• Lower cholesterol levels
• More efficient oxygen use by the body
• Increased production of the anti-aging hormone DHEA
• Restful sleep
New research is also showing that meditation restores the brain. A landmark study conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital found that as little as eight weeks of meditation not only helped people feel calmer but also produced changes in various areas of the brain, including growth in the areas associated with memory, empathy, sense of self, and stress regulation.
KNOW THAT DEEP INSIDE YOU, IN YOUR FIELD OF ALL POSSIBILITIES, IS YOUR SOURCE OF DIVINE KNOWLEDGE, LOVE, COMPASSION, AND ABUNDANCE. THAT IS WAITING AND THAT HAVE ONLY ONE DESIRE AND THAT IS TO BE BORN
Primordial Sound Meditation, or PSM, is a healing practice that allows us to experience inner calm and deep relaxation. For thousands of years, people have used meditation to move beyond the mind’s busy activity and emotional turbulence into profound peace and expanded awareness.
In the age of digital devices, social media, and busy schedules, the restful awareness we experience during meditation is more valuable than ever. The term “restful awareness” captures the unique combination of physical relaxation and an alert yet quiet mind. The pace of life has accelerated, and every day we are bombarded with more information and stimulation than our ancestors encountered during entire lifetimes. Not surprisingly, the number of people suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic health problems is on the rise—and many are searching for peace of mind.
The most direct way to experience inner silence and well-being is meditation, a tool to rediscover the body’s own inner intelligence. As scientific research reveals, when you meditate, your breathing slows, blood pressure decreases, and stress hormone levels fall.
Primordial Sound Meditation isn’t about forcing your mind to be quiet, it’s about experiencing the silence that’s already there and making it a part of your life. Silence is the birthplace of happiness, creativity, and infinite possibilities. From this field of pure potentiality, we get our bursts of inspiration, our most intuitive thoughts, and our deepest sense of connection to the Universe. Practicing meditation on a daily basis allows you to weave silence and stillness into your mind and body to create a life of greater compassion and fulfillment. Even when your mind is filled with agitated thoughts, you still have access to the inner stillness and calm that always lies beneath the choppy surface of thought and emotion.
There are many different ways to meditate. At I-RAMA, we offer instruction in Primordial Sound Meditation, a powerful meditation technique rooted in the Vedic tradition of India. Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. David Simon, Chopra Center co-founders, have revived this ancient practice of sound meditation and made it available in a format that’s easy to learn.
When you learn Primordial Sound Meditation, you will receive a personal mantra. A mantra is a specific sound or vibration—which when repeated silently—helps you to enter deeper levels of awareness. A Sanskrit term that translates as “vehicle of the mind,” a mantra truly is a vehicle that takes you into quieter, more peaceful levels of the mind.
The mantra you will receive is the vibration the universe was creating at the time and place of your birth, and it is calculated following Vedic mathematic formulas. This is the sound the universe was singing when you emerged through the gap into manifest creation. When this sound is incorporated into your mantra, it has the effect of drawing your attention inwards, allowing you to reconnect to the field of pure awareness. It is important to remember that Primordial Sound Meditation is not an intellectual process. In fact, the less you try to control the process, the greater the benefits. When you silently repeat your mantra in meditation, it creates a vibration that helps you slip into a space between your thoughts, into the complete silence that is sometimes referred to as “the gap.” Your mind is no longer caught up in its noisy internal chatter and is instead exposed to its own deepest nature: pure awareness.
As many studies show, a regular meditation practice offers numerous health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, and releasing stress and fatigue. In fact, meditating for half an hour provides more psychological rest than a full night’s sleep. As you meditate on a regular basis, you will notice an increased sense of well-being as well as greater energy and creativity.
Today doctors are increasingly citing stress as a major contributing factor to most illnesses. Even though meditation should not be considered a cure by itself, research has shown it to be beneficial for a wide range of health problems. As stress is greatly eliminated through Primordial Sound Meditation, our minds and bodies begin to function with maximum effectiveness, creating health, vitality, and happiness.
Practicing Primordial Sound Meditation on a daily basis can help you to:
• Manage stress
• Reduce anxiety
• Improve your relationships
• Create inner peace
• Awaken your intuition
• Lower your blood pressure
• Become less judgmental
• Connect to spirit
• Enhance your sleep patterns

The history of meditation is actually the history of existence itself so this will be the shortened version!
Modern science tells us that the universe came into being with a big bang. Actually, it wasn’t a bang but rather a big OM, which didn’t just happen once but is happening continuously. The Absolute, Pure Consciousness, is the potential for everything but is nothing in Itself, which means it is also Pure Silence. At some point, the Absolute decided it wanted to have an experience but, as nothing else existed, it could only experience itself. As experience is by contrast, the Absolute had to move within itself to experience itself. Movement creates friction, which creates sound. However, by definition, the Absolute is silent so this sound had to be forced out of Pure Consciousness and became conditioned or modified consciousness. This first sound was OM, which then diversified into all the sounds and vibrations of the manifest creation.
“Too many thoughts.” “Can’t sit still.” “When will it be over?” “Am I doing it correctly?” “Nothing’s happening.” Have you ever had those thoughts during your meditation?
Well, you’re not alone; these are by far the biggest complaints people make about their meditation practice. As new meditators, we all had these concerns, and even after many years, they still pop up from time to time. But please don’t give up, these are in fact good experiences.
